Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is about two middle aged Midwestern women who have never been ANYWHERE going to Florida to let loose on a vacation. What ensues is adventure, fun and love. Along the way, they get entangled in the plans of an evil villain who wants to kill everyone in town. It’s a comedy that will give you a lot of laughs and giggles. 1 Bad Moms (2016) – Moms take a break from routine
Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn and Kristen Bell are friends and moms who are tired, burnt out and in search of a little fun. Just on a whim, they decide to be bad moms for a while, free of responsibilities, chores and constantly having to think of their good mom image. What follows is a comedic liberation of the souls. Christina Applegate plays antagonist to the bad moms, watching them like a hawk. Just a feel good comedy that reminds us all that we just have to let loose once in a while.
2 Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) – Is a vacation the cure for heartbreak?
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Peter (Jason Segel) is dumped by his girlfriend Sarah (Kristen Bell). To forget it all, Peter decides to go on a vacation to Oahu, an exotic island. Much to his despair, it’s where Sarah with her new boyfriend checks in as well.
The more Peter runs into Sarah, the more he realizes that he may have gained more than he lost. And, Sarah realizes that she might have lost more than she gained. All this is rolled into a light comedy that also features other great stars like Paul Rudd, Mila Kunis and Russell Brand playing the eccentric new boyfriend to Sarah. An easy watch.
3 Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) – Funny struggles with shopping addiction

Isla Fisher plays Rebecca Bloomwood in this comedy about a woman addicted to shopping. Even with an income, Rebecca’s shopping exploits are unaffordable. But, when she loses here income, she is pushed to the brink. Funnily enough, she accidentally lands a job at a finance magazine, at a job that requires her to write about personal finance no less. Adding to the plot is the romantic relationship she begins to develop with her young editor boss, one who knows nothing about her addictive shopping behavior. A sub-plot revolves around her how she dodges a debt collector who is very thin on patience.
Krysten Ritter as best friend and Hugh Dancy as boyfriend/editor provide great performances. Isla herself is brilliant, perfectly showcasing someone who means well, but generally can’t get it together, until at least the end!
4 13 Going on 30 (2004) – Teenager in a woman’s body. Identity crisis anyone?
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Jenna Rink (Jennifer Garner) is humiliated on her 13th birthday. To forget it ever happened, she wishes that she could just skip to age 30. Some magic dust ensures that this is what exactly happens. Jenna wakes up the next day, 30 years old, in a beautiful grown up woman’s body, with admirers, a phenomenal job and great friends.
But, she then realizes that being 30 with a 13 year old mind is not what she wants after all. The key to going back to her life as a teenager lies in the hands of Matt, a friend at school from what seems her past life. The yearning to go back to who she was makes her reminisce life and understand how she hasn’t been the person she would have liked to be. A feel good movie, with plenty of great humor.
5 She’s the Man (2006) – Girl’s soccer team cut! No problem. Pretend to be a guy!
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Amanda Bynes plays Viola. Viola loves soccer, but is devastated when the entire girl’s team is cut. But, hell bent on playing soccer anyway, Amanda decides to disguise herself as Sebastian, her twin brother, to join the boys soccer team.
While on the team, Viola falls for her roommate and teammate Duke. Duke likes another girl named Olivia. To compound things, Olivia likes Viola. To make matters much worse, her twin brother who was away to London decides to come back to school, having no knowledge that his sister has taken his place.
What happens? It’s for you to find out in this movie full of laughs and fun!
6 Mean Girls (2004) – High school mean girl comedy
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Lindsay Lohan plays Cady Heron in this chic flick classic. Cady is a 16 year old good girl. Homeschooled, studios and anything but trouble, she becomes friends Janis and Damian, two misfits and loners in school. She then falls for Aaron who is ex to one of the mean girls at school, played by Regina George (Rachel McAdams). Regina is furious that Cady would try to take Aaron as her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Cady, Janis and Damian come up with a devious plan to bring disrepute to Regina by first making Regina believe that she was friends with Cady. But, in the process, Cady actually becomes one of the mean girls herself, alienating Janis and Damian in the process.
It all comes around though, in a high school comedy that will have you in splits from time to time.
7 Pitch Perfect (2012) – A Cappella comedy anyone?
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Beca (Anna Kendrick) is a rebellious freshman who has no interest in college life. But, she is somehow convinced to join the all-girl A Cappella group. They then begin fierce preparations to compete in a collegiate contest that will feature 3 other A Cappella groups.
While she first tries to comply and work with the A Cappella group led by dominating leader in Chloe (Brittany Snow), Beca soon realizes that their song choices are outdated and boring and just not good enough to win. So, she rebels and tries to win the rest of the group’s acceptance by introducing innovation and new energy to the songs.
Everything plays out in a clever plot that introduces several fun, eccentric and interesting stars like Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), Skylar Astin (Jesse), Beca’s romantic interest and Elizabeth Banks (Content Commentator). Definitely one of the best female led comedies out there.
8 Blended (2014) – Date from hell meets vacation

Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, Blended is about a man and a woman who swear never to see each other after a horrendous blind date.
But, as their luck would have it, they end up in an African Safari vacation destination with nowhere else to go. How will the couple that basically hated each other survive this togetherness. Or, maybe they don’t hate each other after all!
9 We’re the Millers (2013) – Hilarious crime comedy
Watch on Amazon Prime Video David is a small time pot dealer. But, when he goes broke and can’t pay up, his supplier gives him a nasty ultimatum. Run an errand to Mexico to pick up a Marijuana load from a drug dealer or get beaten up. To better his chances as a cross-country drug mule, David recruits a broke stripper and two very opposite teenagers to enlist them as a make-pretend family that he believes will help him easily pass through border security.
We’re the Millers is hilarious from start to finish. Stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts and Will Poulter in leading roles. A laugh riot.
10 Just Go With It (2011) – Make-pretend ex-wife and kids to impress a girlfriend? Bad plan
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Adam Sandler is a very successful plastic surgeon. While trying to woo a woman much younger to him (Brooklyn Decker), he carelessly lies about having been married and having kids. The problem is, she loves kids and now he has to cover up his lie by bringing a family on a vacation with his new girlfriend.
The problem is he doesn’t have a family. He then convinces his beautiful receptionist and their two very funny kids to be his family. What follows is a fun and frolic adventure where Danny’s (Adam Sandler) façade falls apart. But, in the process, he realizes how he is in love with Jennifer Aniston (Katherine). A fun comedy that also features a guest appearance by Nicole Kidman. Takes the same vacation theme that you so thoroughly enjoyed in Barb and Star to Vista Del Mar.
11 Sideways (2004) – When mid-life crisis meets wine country
Watch on Amazon Prime Video Sideways is a movie like Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar, but with a more subtle shade of humor. Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church deliver stellar performances in this movie about a weekend away to wine country. One is about to get married. One is a sad sack recovering from a divorce and a wife who left him.
The two try to score over the weekend but a careless lie has them scrambling to desperately right things. Definitely not a slap stick comedy. But, one you will without a doubt appreciate.
