But, suddenly, a great responsibility is bestowed upon him, to defeat an evil snow leopard that looks to conquer China. Together with 5 other chosen Kung-Fu proteges and under the watchful eyes of Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), he has a shot at glory. Kung Fu Panda is adorable and fun from start to end. Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Angelina Jolie are among other notable stars who have given their voice for this thorough family entertainer.
If your kids love this movie, they will love the sequels too. There’s Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 as well.
2 Moana (2016)
Moana is the daughter of a chief on an island. Born into a family of sea voyaging navigators, Moana finds out that her island has been cursed. There are no fish to catch in their waters. The reason? A rogue demigod named Maui (Voice – Dwayne Johnson) has stolen the heart of Te Fiti, an enraged goddess who cursed the island.
Moana must now find, convince and partner with Maui, to restore the island’s prosperity. It’s a fantastic Disney movie that is musical, full of magical super natural elements and capable of triggering imaginations and fantasy. A brilliant family movie that kids, particularly girls, will love.
3 The Croods (2013)
The Croods, like Raya and the Last Dragon is a movie about fighting to survive. Here, The Croods are a family of eccentric caveman. Their plan for survival is to follow a long list of rules that will keep them safe. But, when their cave is destroyed, none of the rules make sense anymore. Instead, they must innovate, improvise and invent to survive their way through life. It is a great movie to teach kids about the art of being resourceful. It’s full of laughs too. If you like The Croods, you will love the sequel that came out in 2020 as well.
4 How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Hiccup is a young Viking. Fascinated by Viking culture, he wants to fight the dragons that raid his village. But, when he brings down a fabled Night Fury dragon, he just can’t bring himself to kill it. Instead, what develops is a beautiful friendship between the two. Hiccup also learns that the dragons don’t mean harm and that the hatred towards them is uncalled for. It’s a lovely movie that will teach your kids empathy and the importance of finding harmony with other creatures we should coexist with. Jay Baruchel lends his voice for Hiccup. Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Craig Ferguson and America Ferrera are others who voiced various characters in this very funny and also moving movie.
5 Inside Out (2015)
Riley is suddenly thrust into San Francisco, a bustling city. Coming from a quiet midwestern life, everything is new to Riley. How will she navigate this new and unfamiliar life? By letting her 5 emotions conflict with each other to find a way. 5 characters portray the emotions of joy, sadness, anger, disgust and fear. It is a great movie to teach your kids about how to manage their emotions, to get through obstacles in life.
6 Ice Age (2002)
It’s the Ice Age. Everything is frozen. An unlikely trio of a wooly mammoth, a menacing sabretooth tiger and a sloth embark on a journey to return a lost human baby to its tribe. Ray Romano’s voice is perfect for the calm and laid back wooly mammoth. Denis Leary is perfect for Diego, the fearsome cat. John Leguizamo is hilarious as Sid, the clumsy Sloth who knows just how to say all the wrong things at the wrong time. It’s a laugh riot from start to end, with great messages about friendship and camaraderie as well.
7 Toy Story (1995)
Andy loves his toys. He is particularly fond of “Woody” a cowboy toy. When Andy is not around, the toys all come alive. Woody is the star toy and he is very happy with his stardom life. But, Andy’s mother gifts Andy an action figure toy named Buzz Lightyear. Buzz is now Andy’s new favorite toy and Woody struggles with jealousy. He hatches a plan to get rid of Buzz. But, as fate would have it, Woody and Buzz together get lost and they must find a way back to Andy. The movie beautifully shows how one can set aside jealousy and competition to be harmonious and work towards a more common good. Tom Hanks is voice of Woody while Tim Allen lends his voice for Buzz Lightyear. There’s a host of other funny toys as well, from a funny dinosaur to a slinky dog to a Mr. Potato Head, among several others.

8 Wall -E (2008)
Wall- E is a small waste collecting robot. But, unexpected circumstances entrust him with a huge responsibility to save mankind while on a space journey. But, unlike what you might have expected, Wall- E isn’t on a journey to outer space. Rather, he is on a journey to Earth, to find out if the planet is re-habitable, after humans abandoned it because of all the trash they heaped on it. Only a cockroach to keep him company, Wally-E then rescues another robot called Eve. He falls in love with her. Eve then goes inactive and Wall-E does everything he can to protect her. Will he manage to save her? Will he manage to save humankind? A simply brilliant movie that has over 1 Million 8+ Star reviews at IMDB!
9 Coco (2017)
Miguel can’t understand why his family has banned music for generations. Despite opposition from his family, he wants to become a musician like Ernesto de la Cruz, his idol. But, to pursue his passion, he must first understand why his family has banned music. To do that, he enters the magical world of the dead, to meet his great great grandfather who has the answers he needs. Along the way, he meets Hector, a charming but friendly conman. It’s just a brilliant movie that manages to make the world of dead really fun. And like Raya and the Last Dragon, it’s about a conquest, to find answers that will allow Miguel to pursue his passion.
10 Madagascar (2005)
A lion, a giraffe, penguins, a hippopotamus and other animals are living it up in a Central Park Zoo in New York. But, one day, they decide to have a night out on the town. The zookeepers then decide to ship off all the animals and introduce them to the wild. Only, none of the animals are prepared for life in the wild. The movie is just hilarious as there are many funny scenes where the animals struggle to adjust to life in the wild. They also meet the native animals who are at first scared and then just simply amused at the clueless visitors. A great fun watch if you like animal animation movies. Has a comedic tone to it, just like in Raya and the Last Dragon.
11 The Incredibles (2004)
Bob, Helen and their three children are living the quiet suburban family life. But, many years ago, Bob and Helen were the most famous superheroes who saved countless lives and found many battles against evil.
Bob itches to get back to action. So, one day, when he comes across a communication that calls for help against an evil robot on an island, he jumps into action. Helen joins him. His three children who were born with superpowers join the fight as well. Have fun watching the Super Family fight it out against evil, just like how Raya and Sisi fought off the Druun.
